now what...

Well I have my 10 prints printed as 8x10. I ave one print as a 11x14 since everybody in hte class loves the Praying Mantas picture. I'll find out weds the second big photo I'll have to print.
Still stumped ont he title for my portfolio. Who would have thought a simple title would be so hard. Should be clever but not cliche like..argh what to use....A lot has been suggested from my classmates, but nothing is sinking up with the portfolio. I have had Small world of the enchanted forest; Bug hunting in the enchanted Forest; I thought of The Enchanting Forest or The Secret Denizens of the Enchanted Forest ; ARGH! or Peeping through the lense in the enchanted forest; or The Enchanted forest - a small view; A Walk on the Enchanted Forest Path; The Denizens of the Enchanted Forest....

Well I do have my Slideshow done! my Artist statement is submitted and graded! I'm in the home stretch for the class assignment.

Still need a title - title

Well last weeks title didn't make the cut in class so I'm back to the drawing board. But I did work some on my artist statement. Probably needs some more tuning but here it is so far.

Artist’s statement – Julee Garrett
I used to have tunnel vision when I walked a trail, never looking on the sides of the path, never slowing my pace to peer into nature’s small world. My photography represents a view of the small denizen’s of the Enchanted Forest in Titusville. Secretly capturing their world without interruption through my camera lense to preserve their daily livelihood.
What appealed to me artistically and visually, is the blending of so many colors in nature. Insects and plants don’t have a color wheel that they reference to create their scenery.  The schema is both simple and complex for their survivability.
I hope that these photographs invite you to pause and ponder the beauty  of nature at the Enchanted Forest.

Here is this weeks photos i did, some are good some are so-so.

Safari in the Enchanted Forest

How's that for my title?

Here are some additional photos. Ran out day of this post and took these. Flowers are dwindling and they are clearing out the dead brush so it is getting more difficult to find a variety of "models"

Started taking Photos again

Well it has been awhile since I posted but been laid up with knee surgery and getting moved out of my house. But I'm back. Here are the little guys I saw on the paved walkway in Enchanted Forest. DR and Therapist did not want me walking on uneven ground. I put some pics in that look similar because I just couldn't determine which one to use.

Portfolio safari - day 3

well went back out to the Enchanted Forest again and went to the same spots I shot Friday but was able to get different models of bugs, lizards and amphibians.

The snake shot was a biggie for me.  If you know me enough I am terrified of snakes.  The joke in our circle of family and friends is that if you need to find a snake send Julee. This was a baby what appears to me to be a rat snake. I saw no rattlers so I didn't think it was a pigmy rattler or baby rattler.

Portfolio safari part dux

So I am trying to continue my safari of finding small bugs / creatures in the world. I went to the Enchanted Forest in Titusville and took pictures in between the rain storms. Some pics are good some are questionable but...I re-shot the lizard on the tree to get the proper orientation of landscape instead of portrait. One other thing is that I found was proof that if a tree falls in the woods, it does make a sound. A tree fell about 50 ft away from me in the heavy brush. Really eerie sound!
